2013 goals

Wednesday, January 2

I hope everyone had a great new year! We (my fiance, our dog, and myself) spent it very low key at my mom's house for a few hours, and then we rang in the new year at home, just the three of us.  I'm glad the holiday madness is (mostly) over. I'll be fully relieved once things go back to normal.

I was reading Larie's blog, Eye Heart It, and she posted some non-beauty projects and goals, as well as beauty projects and goals.  I thought they were brilliant posts, and am going to do my own versions.

Non-Beauty related goals

1. Knit more
I have been a novice knitter for close to a decade.  I go through phases where I want to knit everything, and then I realize my skills aren't up to par, and so a project gets stuck on the needles for years.  Larie was posting about her knitting experience and she looked like she was having such a great time knitting that it made me want to pick up my needles again.  So I finished a purse I had started knitting FIVE years ago that was just sitting on the needles. Now I'm starting a simple ribbed scarf (both shown above)

2. Cook more

Ok, so I didn't actually cook either of the meals in the pictures above, but they look delicious, don't they?! Fact is, I searched through all my pictures for 2012 and couldn't turn up anything I made myself. I'm not much of a cook. I know how to make basic dishes, and I know how to cook the things my fiance likes.  My fiance loves my family's cooking though. I'm striving to learn to cook like my family so he and I won't eat out as often.

I'm also going to learn how to cook more out of necessity.  Eating out is an expensive habit we have, and we're moving in a few weeks to a more expensive home.  To compensate for the higher rent, I'm resolving to eat out less and cook more. I think I'd like to chronicle my cooking escapades here on my blog and on Instagram.

3. DIY more
Like I mentioned above, we're moving in a few weeks to a townhouse.  We're downsizing a bit...I'm losing my office/beauty room, but I'm gaining more in upgrades and finishes. I want to decorate my home and put up my artwork and photographs. I have some DIY projects that I want to start, like refinishing some old bookcases and side tables. I will definitely blog about those things when I get to them. :)

I think that's it for non-beauty related goals. All three things are things that should keep me quite busy this year, and that isn't including the beauty/blog related goals I have for myself as well.

What are your goals/resolutions for 2013?
